Steel construction/welding specialist group event in Seehausen

On May 29, 2024, the steel construction and welding specialist group of the Saxony-Anhalt Metal Guild Association met at the Graepel site in Seehausen (Altmark). After a joint lunch, around 25 guild members gathered for the specialist event at Graepel's premises. In addition to specialist presentations, the event also included a presentation and tour of the Graepel plant.

The event kicked off with a presentation by Maximilian Irps, Managing Director at Graepel in Seehausen, on the technical possibilities, fields of application and advantages of Graepel's sheet metal profile gratings. These include, for example, individual solutions for spiral and aluminum staircases. Toni Oblontzek, Head of Design & work prep. at Graepel, explained in detail the load-bearing capacity, slip resistance and wide range of applications for Graepel gratings.

Another highlight of the conference was the presentation by STM Schweißtechnik Magdeburg on the “Innovation of manual laser welding”. The speaker provided expert information on the new possibilities, practical requirements and limitations of this process. He particularly emphasized the suitability of manual laser welding for welding sheet metal with material thicknesses of 0.5 to 3.5 mm, which is an excellent match for the requirements of Graepel, one of the world's leading producers of high-quality sheet metal products.

The event concluded with a factory tour and practical demonstrations of manual laser welding. The participants were given an insight into the manufacturing process for sheet metal profile gratings and the production possibilities of other Graepel products. Visitors were also able to learn about automation using tube lasers and welding robots as well as the galvanizing plant of the metal specialists based in Löningen.
